Alphabet resource for display and alphabet activities. This resource contains the following:- Teacher’s Notes • Aa to Zz frieze showing pictures beginning with initial letter. Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall/classroom. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures • Laminate and cut out • Can be used as an extension activity. Children trace round the initial dotted letter which shows a picture for that letter. Alphabet cards • Alphabet cards should be printed off twice, laminated and cut out. • Children can play alphabet snap • Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order ,e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the children seeing and ask what letter is missing. • Matching lower case to upper case letters activity. Practise writing frames using Sassoon dotted font • These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. • After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises. Alphabet Mat Practise (trace over dotted letters) Photocopy these and laminate • Children can keep it in their trays for reference; • can practise their handwriting if they finish their work early or for those children who need to practise fine motor skills. A timer can be set so that children have a limited time to place the letter on the correct picture. • Players take turns to ask his/her partner to find the picture beginning with, e.g. ‘s’. WITH ANSWER SHEETS Each of the four worksheets contain a variety of tasks for students to complete on the topic of buying school supplies/stationery. Worksheet 1 - Students look at the pictures and price of each item and then work out how much the two items of stationery cost. Two questions at the bottom: Which student spent the most? Which student spent the least amount of money? Worksheet 2 - This worksheet is similar to the above except students are working out what 3 items of stationery cost. Worksheet 3 - Students answer 6 questions about the items, e.g. Which item is the most expensive? How much less do the crayons cost than the ruler? etc. The next task is to write the new price for each item which has risen by 9p. Minibeasts, bugs, insects bingo game. Your students can also play Snap! and matching pair cards. Increase vocabulary of minibeasts. Great value Minibeasts resource which contains: Teacher’s Notes 35 bingo cards labelled Card 1 to Card 35 30 different minibeasts call out cards 36 picture cards for a game of snap 36 picture cards with name labels which can also be used for snap The pictures are photos of common invertebrates. Preparation: Print onto card paper and laminate the bingo cards. Laminate both sets of picture cards and cut out. Play bingo as a whole class or children play in smaller groups. Play ‘Snap!’ Matching card game - - Lay out, say, 10 sets of matching cards face down on the table - players take turns to turn over two cards. If two cards match, he or she keeps the cards. If the two cards do not match the cards are placed put back again. The player with the most matching cards is the winner. Other uses: Create a minibeasts word wall - reprint the call-out cards and picture cards for a wall display. This resource relates to the alphabet. There are two sets of activity sheets to support children’s learning of the alphabet. Aimed at: Reception/Year 1 Each letter activity covers half a page (A5 size) to be cut out. Download: 29 Sheets Activity 1: Children can trace inside the ghost letters with different colours and then trace over the dotted letters. Draw pictures beginning with the letter on the activity sheet, e.g. ‘Gg’ pictures. Activity 2: Children say and sound out the letter, trace inside the ghost letters and over the dotted letters. They should only colour in the pictures beginning with the letter stated. There are 5 pictures for each alphabet and children need to colour in 3 that start with the same letter name/sound. This resource contains 4 sets of 20 task cards relating to addition of 3 one-digit numbers. Aimed at: KS1 The task cards are colour-coded from easy to challenging. All task cards come with colour-coded answer sheets. Just print, laminate and cut out the task cards for longevity. Lovely ready-made resource to supplement your teaching of 3 one-digit numbers or for early finishers. - Set 1- 20 Task Cards (yellow) - Students record the number of dots in the blank boxes and then solve the equation. They can check their answer by counting up all the dots. - Set 2 - 20 Task Cards (purple) - Each task card contains a ready-to-use number line. The number lines range from 0-10, 0-20 and 0-30. - Set 3 - 20 Task Cards (green) - Very useful activity for students to reinforce their knowledge of number bonds to 10. Students quickly work out their answers by adding the two numbers that add up to 10 and then count on the third number. From Task Cards 11 to 20 the equal sign is on the left-hand side, so that students know the equal sign is not always on the right-hand side of an equation. - Set 4 - 20 Task Cards (pale orange) - Missing numbers task cards. The missing numbers are in different positions to make the tasks challenging. Students have the option of using the number line to count back from the total, or adding up the two numbers and counting on or any other method they choose to use to arrive at the answer. This is an assembly/lesson presentation about St. Andrew’s Day celebrated on 30 November and its connection to Scotland. There are are teachers’ notes to guide you through the assembly.
